Stages of the S58
The S58 engine — found in the G80 M3, G82 M4, X3M, and X4M — is BMW’s most advanced and capable inline-6 to date. Built for performance from the factory, this platform responds aggressively to tuning and hardware upgrades. At Texas M Powerhouse, we’ve structured the S58 upgrade journey into clear stages to help you build with purpose — whether you’re after refined street performance or full-blown track dominance.
Explore each stage to see how far your S58 can go, from a simple tune to a fully built 1000+ horsepower monster.
ECU Tuning Only: A safe and simple power upgrade.
This stage focuses on remapping the ECU for better boost, throttle response, and overall drivability — with no hardware changes. Perfect for keeping it stock-looking but significantly faster.
Bolt-On Power: Improved airflow and cooling efficiency.
Adds performance parts like downpipes, intake, and intercooler upgrades. Boosts horsepower while maintaining reliability, ideal for daily driving with more aggressive output.
FBO + Fueling Support: Unlocks the stock turbos’ full potential.
With full bolt-ons and upgraded fueling (HPFP or port injection), this stage supports ethanol blends for cooler combustion and more power — great for flex-fuel tuning and weekend racing.
Turbo Upgrade Package: Serious power gains with big turbos.
Swaps in hybrid or full-frame turbos along with full fueling and cooling support. Designed for high-horsepower builds pushing 700–900+ WHP with reliable, tuned performance.
Built Motor + Track Setup: Maximum performance for hardcore builds.
Fully built engine with forged internals and drivetrain upgrades, built to handle extreme boost and race conditions. Supports 1000+ HP for track, roll-race, or competitive use.
